In general, it is not allowed to bring dogs or cats from Malaysia and cats from Australia to Sweden, but it may be permitted on certain conditions. Import may be allowed if the following conditions are complied with:
Dogs and cats from Malaysia
- The animal has not come into contact with pigs during the 60 days immediately preceding export (this must be certified in writing by the owner of the animal).
- The animal has not been kept at establishments which have had any case of Nipah disease in the last 60 days (this must be certified in writing by the owner of the animal).
- The animal has been tested for Nipah within ten days prior to export and has shown a negative result in ELISA tests for lgG. The test was carried out by a laboratory approved for Nipah analyses by the relevant veterinary authority.
- The animal complies with the requirements concerning veterinary certificate or pet passport, identification, rabies vaccination and, if needed, clinical examination.
Cats from Australia
- The animal has not been kept at establishments which have had any case of Hendra disease in the last 60 days (this must be certified in writing by the owner of the animal).
- The animal complies with the requirements concerning veterinary certificate or pet passport, identification, rabies vaccination and, if needed, clinical examination.
