The term mineral fertilizers refers to mineral and chemical fertilisers not containing any substances of organic origin, that is plant or animal parts, or soil.
If not stated otherwise, the regulations presented apply to imports both from EU members and other countries.
It is forbidden to sell fertilisers containing more than 100 grams of cadmium per tonne phosphorus. For more information, please consult the Swedish Chemicals Agency.
If your company intends to start an operation in Sweden involving manufacture or import of chemicals, including fertilisers, of an amount of more than 100 kg, you need to register those products at the Chemicals Agency.
Companies pay an annual charge on their registered products. Products may also be subject to provisions regarding classification and labelling of products and obligations to provide safety leaflets. The Chemicals Agency can provide you with more information.
Anyone who produces or imports EU fertilisers for further sale, except when the imported amount is less than 100 kg per year, must be registred here at the Board of Agriculture. You register by completing the registration form in the right-hand column and sending it to us. The form is available only in Swedish.
Your registration form must reach us no later than 30 days after you began the activity in question.
