dairy production continued in 2015
Production
of organic drinking milk increased by 19 % during 2015 compared with 2014.
At the same time, production of acidified milk showed an increase by 38 %
while production of organic cream increased by 72 %. Production of organic
cheese was more than doubled. The
slaughter of organic cattle and sheep and lambs decreased slightly during 2015
compared with 2014. In 2015, 14 % of the total slaughtered cattle were
reared on holdings applying organic production methods. This corresponds to
18 900 tonnes. In total, slaughterings of organic sheep and lambs were
estimated to 1 100 tonnes in 2015. About 22 % of the sheep and lambs
slaughtered were reared on holdings applying organic production methods. During 2015
there was a large increase in slaughterings of organic pigs and broilers. For
pigs the increase was estimated to 14 % and for broilers the increase was
estimated to 50 %. However, the number of organic pigs and broilers is low
in Sweden and as a consequence organic animal production is low. In 2015, only
2 % of the total slaughter of pigs and 0.4 % of the slaughter of
broilers came from animals reared on holdings applying organic production
methods. Organic egg
production delivered to wholesalers had a share of almost 16 % of total
egg production in 2015. Organic eggs delivered to wholesalers were estimated to
17 000 tonnes in 2015, an increase by 26 % compared with 2014. List of tables
