Increased slaughterings of cattle and pigs in July 2002

The slaughterings of cattle amounted to 83 300 metric tons in the first seven months of 2002, an increase by 4,4 % from the same period 2001. The slaughterings of pigs increased by 3,5 % or from 160 800 to 166 500 metric tons during the same period.

The slaughterings of chickens increased by 6,6 % to 38 600 metric tons during the first half of 2002.

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in January - July 2002 decreased by 0,8 % compared to previous year.

The quantity of eggs delivered to wholesalers decreased by 2,4 % during  January - July 2002.
