Increased slaughterings of pigs in September 2003

The slaughterings of pigs amounted to 215 900 metric tons in January - September 2003, an increase by 1,7 % compared to the same period 2002. The slaughterings of cattle decreased by 4,2 % during the same period.

During the first three quarters the slaughterings of chickens decreased by 4,6 % from 76 600 metric tons in 2002 to 73 100 metric tons in 2003.

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in January - September 2003 decreased by 1,4 % compared to previous year.

The quantity of eggs delivered to wholesalers decreased by 5,0 % during the same period.
