Decreased production of milk in January - April 2005

Production of drinking milk, acidified milk and milk delevered to dairies decreased with about 3 % in January - April 2005, compared to the same period 2004. Production of cheese, butter and milk powder were the same as in January - April 2004.

Slaughterings of cattle increased with 1 % and slaughterings of pigs decreased with 8 %. The slaughterings of chickens decreased by 3 % during January - March 2005 compared with the same period under 2004.

The quantity of eggs delivered to wholesalers was the same as in January -April 2005.
