million chicken slaughtered during first quarter 2015 The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in March
2015 was 260 000 tons, just like in March of last year but 12 % more
than in February. Figure A shows the quantity of milk delivered to dairies
month by month from 2012 till March 2015.The production of drinking milk was
the same as in March 2014, 70 000 tons. Cream production increased
markedly compared to last year, rising to 9 800 tons and
1 000 tons more than in March 2014. The slaughter of adult cattle was marginally higher than in March the previous
year, with 33 800 adult cattle slaughtered. 2 150 Calves were
slaughtered as well, which was a slight decrease The total slaughter of pigs
was also slightly higher in March 2015 compared to 2014, 230 340 heads with
a combined slaughter weight of 21 410 tons. Figures B and C show how the
slaughter of cattle and pigs, respectively, has developed since the year 2012. 22 818 000 chickens, 801 100 hens and
105 960 turkeys were slaughtered during the first quarter of 2015. Compared
to first quarter 2014, the number of chickens is almost unchanged, hens are up
9 % and turkeys are down 7 %. Egg delivery statistics for March 2015 are the latest
available. During the year this far, 25 600 tons of eggs were delivered to
wholesalers from The Swedish Egg and Poultry Associations members, indicating
the total Swedish production was roughly 31 200 tons during the time
period. Compared to the two previous years, the production level is more or less
