Slaughter of cattle and pigs less than in May 2014

In May 2015 slaughtered more than 30 900 adult cattle and nearly 1 800 calves. The total weight of cattle was 10 268 tons, which is lower than the same month in the last three years. This can be seen in Figure A. The slaughter of pigs is the lowest in the month of May the past 15 years. In May this year there were slaughtered 198 800 pigs, representing a weight of 18 150 tons. Figures A and B show how the slaughter of cattle and pigs has developed since the year 2012.

In May 2015 there were slaughtered 7 679 460 chickens, 185 100 hens and 35 880 turkeys. The total weight was 11 520 tons. 96 % of the weight was from chickens.

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies and the production at dairies in May 2015 are not available when this is published. Therefore are not tables 1 and 2 updated. The data is placed into the database when it becomes available.

Data about eggs delivered to wholesalers from The Swedish Egg and Poultry Association members in May 2015 are not available at the time for this publication, which means than Table 5 is not updated. The data will be published in the database when it is available.
