Largest monthly slaughterings of cattle so far this year

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in September 2015 was 230 200 tons, 600 tons more than September of last year. Figure A shows the quantity of milk delivered to dairies month by month from 2012 till September 2015. The production of drinking milk was in September 69 100 tons, which is 400 tons more than in September 2014. Cream production has been 81 800 tons this far, it is 4 500 tons bigger than last year at this point in time.

In September 2015 slaughtered nearly 40 000 adult cattle and nearly 2 000 calves. The total weight of cattle was nearly 13 200 tons, which is more than the same month in the last three years. This can be seen in Figure B. The slaughter of pigs is more than the same month in the last three years. In September this year there were slaughtered 234 400 pigs, representing a weight of 21 000 tons. Figures B and C show how the slaughter of cattle and pigs has developed since the year 2012.

Figure D shows the total slaughter of poultry on a quarterly basis from 2012 onwards. The slaughter in Q3 has increased every year since 2012. Between 2014 och 2015 increased the slaughter of poultry in Q3 with 8 % to 36 563 tons.

During September, 8 600 tons of eggs were delivered to wholesalers from The Swedish Egg and Poultry Associations members, up 5 % compared to September 2014. Their market share is estimated to about 82 %. Figure E show egg delivered to wholesalers since the year 2012.
