Decreased slaughterings of pigs in October compared with October 2014

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in October 2015 was 233 100 tons, 800 tons less than October of last year. Figure A shows the quantity of milk delivered to dairies month by month from 2012 till October 2015. The production of drinking milk was in October 70 400 tons, which is 1 100 tons less than in October 2014. Cream production has been 91 900 tons this far, it is 5 700 tons bigger than last year at this point in time.

In October 2015 slaughtered nearly 38 800 adult cattle and nearly 2 100 calves. The total weight of cattle was nearly 12 700 tons, which is more than the same month in the last two years. This can be seen in Figure B. The slaughter of pigs is less than the same month in the last three years. In October this year there were slaughtered 219 900 pigs, representing a weight of 19 900 tons. Figures B and C show how the slaughter of cattle and pigs has developed since the year 2012.

In October 2015 there were slaughtered 8 099 400 chicken, 351 700 hens and 44 700 turkeys. The total weight was 12 400 ton. 94 % of the weight was from chicken.

Data about eggs delivered to wholesalers from The Swedish Egg and Poultry Associations members in October 2015 are not available at the time for this publications, which means that Table 5 is not updated. The data will be published in the database when it is available.
