Increase in the slaughter of cattle and pigs in February
During February the quantity of milk delivered to dairies was 221 100 tonnes, a 2 % decrease compared with last year’s February figures. Of the delivered milk, 58 500 tonnes went to the production of drinking milk and 17 800 tonnes to the production of acidified milk. Also during the month, 8 500 tonnes of cream, 7 500 tonnes of cheese, 1 100 tonnes of butter and 7 000 tonnes of milk powder were produced.
Roughly 32 600 cattle slaughtered in February. Of these approximately 1 300 were calves. Compared with February 2017, the total weight of slaughtered cattle increased by 5 %, to 10 500 tonnes.

In February about 13 800 sheep and lambs were slaughtered, of which 12 100 were lambs. The total slaughter weight of sheep and lambs was 280 tonnes, a decrease by 2 % compared with February 2017.
The figures for slaughtered poultry and egg delivery were not available at the time of publication. The statistics will be published in the Statistical database of the Board of Agriculture when available.
