decreased, except for sheep and lambs
In March the quantity of milk delivered to
dairies was 243 600 tonnes, a decrease by 3 % compared with the figures of
March 2017. 65 200 tonnes of drinking milk and 19 200 tonnes of
acidified milk were produced at the dairies. Also produced during the month
were 8 800 tonnes of cream, 8 000 tonnes of cheese, 1 300
tonnes of butter and 7 400 tonnes of milk powder. 35 100 cattle were slaughtered in March,
of which 1 300 were calves. The total slaughter weight of cattle was 11 300
tonnes, a 3 % decrease compared with March 2017. The slaughter of pigs in March 2018 decreased
by 8 % compared with the figures of March of last year. 217 300 pigs were slaughtered
in March, with a total slaughter weight of 20 800 tonnes. 20 100 sheep and lambs were slaughtered in
March, of which 18 700 were lambs. The total slaughter weight of sheep and
lambs for this month was 390 tonnes. Compared with the same month of last
year there was an increase by 16 %. The first quarter’s statistics for delivered
eggs is now available in our Statistical database. 10 900 tonnes of eggs were
delivered in March by the members of the Swedish Egg & Poultry Association.
In relation to March of last year, the delivered amount increased by 3 %. The figures for slaughtered poultry were not
available at the time of publication. The statistics will be published in the
