slaughter in May
The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in
May was 249 200 tonnes, an amount in line with the figures for May 2017.
At the dairies there were 66 500 tonnes drinking milk and 20 300
tonnes of acidified milk produced during the month. Other dairy products produced
during the month were 9 200 tonnes of cream, 6 800 tonnes of cheese,
1 900 tonnes butter and 7 600 tonnes of milk powder. 35 700 cattle were slaughtered in May. The
total slaughter weight of cattle was 11 700 tonnes, an increase by 3
% compared with the figures for the same month last year. The slaughter of pigs increased by 3 % compared
with May 2017. 227 100 pigs were slaughtered during the month, with a
total slaughter weight of 21 800 tonnes. 18 600 sheep and lambs were slaughtered in
May, with a total slaughter weight was 390 tonnes. Compared with the figures
for May 2017, the slaughter of sheep and lambs increased by 4 %. The figures for slaughtered poultry and egg
delivery were not available at the time of publication. The statistics will be
