% of milk delivered to dairies was organic
The quantity of milk delivered to dairies was
238 100 tonnes in January. The quantity of organic milk delivered was
41 500 tonnes. In comparison with the figures for January 2018, the
differences were marginal. 63 100 tonnes of drinking milk and 18 700
tonnes of acidified milk, of which 12 000 tonnes of organic drinking milk
and 2 000 tonnes of acidified organic milk, were produced during the
month. Furthermore, 8 300 tonnes of cream, 6 900 tonnes of cheese,
1 400 tonnes of butter and 5 100 tonnes of milk powder were produced
in January. 410 tonnes of organic cream and 120 tonnes of organic cheese were
produced. There were 38 800 cattle slaughtered in
January. The total slaughter weight of cattle was 12 500 tonnes, an
increase by 7 % compared with the figures for January 2018. 224 000 pigs were slaughtered in January.
The total slaughter weight of pigs decreased by 2 %, to 21 500 tonnes. The slaughter of sheep and lambs increased by
17 % in January compared with same month last year. There were 18 500
sheep and lambs slaughtered during the month and the total slaughter weight was
390 tonnes. There were 13 400 tonnes of poultry
slaughtered in January. It is a decrease by 3 % compared with January
2018. The slaughter of chicken constitutes 95 % of the total slaughter of
poultry and decreased by roughly 3 %. This month’s figures for eggs delivered to
wholesalers were not available at the time of publication. The statistics will be
published in the Statistical database of the Board of Agriculture when
