distribution of slaughter between counties
A large proportion of slaughtered cattle, pigs,
sheep and lambs came from holdings in the counties Skåne and Västra Götaland.
In total, more than 50 % of the slaughtered pigs and a third of slaughtered
cattle came from holdings in these counties. For the slaughter of sheep and lambs, the
county of Gotland is worth notice, with a share in level with Skåne. The
distribution of slaughter within counties
In 18 of the 21 counties, the number of
slaughtered pigs made up a majority of slaughtered animals. In the remaining
counties, the majority was made up of cattle. If one looks at the total slaughter weight of
slaughtered animals, the shares differ. In 14 of the 21 counties, the total
slaughter weight of pigs was the majority of the total slaughter weight. Size
of the holdings
64 % of all slaughtered pigs came from holdings
with more than 100 hectares of arable land. The corresponding share of
slaughtered cattle is 59 %. The second largest share of slaughtered pigs came
from holdings with less than two hectares of arable land. The largest percentage of slaughtered sheep and
lambs came from holdings with between 50–100 hectares of arable land. Holdings
that sent animals to slaughter
Of the holdings that sent animals to slaughter,
most of them sent cattle to slaughter. Roughly three in four holdings that sent
animals to slaughter sent cattle. The percentage of holdings that sent pigs to
slaughter were about 6 % of all holdings that sent animals to slaughter. The
development in slaughter
When comparing the figures of 2017 with 2016,
the largest increase in the slaughter of cattle and pigs was in Södermanland
county, while the largest increase in the slaughter of sheep and lambs was in
