period between the first of July 2014 and the last of June 2015, 781 439
metric tonnes of inorganic fertilizers were sold for agri- and horticultural
purposes in Sweden, 13 % over the average amount for the previous
five-year period. In total,
479 226 tonnes of straight nitrogen fertilizers were sold, representing
the largest amount since 2002/03. Straight nitrogen fertilizers made up
61 % of the total amount of fertilizers sold, while composite
NPK-fertilizers amounted to 35 %. Among the straight nitrogen fertilizers,
87 % consisted of compounds with a nitrogen content of 24–30 %, while
the sales of NPK-fertilizers were fairly evenly divided between fertilizers
with different composition. From a
nutrient point of view, 190 228 tonnes of nitrogen were sold, which was
15 % more than the average for the preceding five years, and the largest
amount since 2000/01. The amount of phosphorus sold has increased for six
consecutive years, reaching 12 482 tonnes in 2014/15. In total, 67 %
of the nitrogen was sold in the form of straight nitrogen fertilizers, while 70
and 77 % of the phosphorus and potassium respectively was sold as
NPK-fertilizers. The average
concentration of each nutrient in straight nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium
fertilizers was 27, 20 and 50 % respectively. Composite fertilizers
containing the respective nutrient had average concentrations of 22, 4.1 and 8.1 %
for each of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. List of tables
