Summary Summary
The area of cereals
decreased while the area of rape seed increased in 2004.
The total
area of arable land is estimated to 2 660 600 hectares in 2004. That is a
decrease of 8 000 hectares compared with 2003. The area
with cereals is estimated to 1 125 700 hectares, a decrease with 2,5 % compared
with the year before. It is mainly the area of oats that has decreased while
spring barley has increased. The area of cereals is now 42 % of total arable
land. The area of
oilseeds is estimated to 83 800 hectares for 2004, which is an increase of 43 %
compared with 2003. Compared with 2002 the area of oilseeds has increased with
24 %. Temporary
grasses and green fodder is estimated to 975 000 hectares, a small increase of
0,6 % compared with 2003. The area is around 36 % of total arable land. The total
area of pasture and meadow is estimated to 523 400 hectares in 2004. The number of holdings is
still decreasing
The number
of agricultural holdings with more than 2,0 hectares of arable land is for 2004
estimated to 65 801, a decrease by 979 holdings compared with 2003. List of tables
