Summary Summary
The total agricultural
area in applications is about the same as last year
According
to the applications for EU-subsidies, the total area of arable land in Sweden
sum up to 2 626 300 hectare year 2010 which is about the same as in 2009. The
total area of pasture and meadowland has decreased by about 6 % or 29,400
hectares. Thus the total agricultural area has decreased about 1 %. While the areas under
cereals decrease, the rape and turnip rape continue to increase.
The
cultivation of cereals is estimated to decrease by 7.4 % or 78,100 hectares in the year 2010
compared to 2009. Rye and Triticle were the cereal crops with the highest
decrease, 31 and 30 % respectively. Measured in hectare, Spring barley had the
highest decrease (-51,100). Spring wheat on the other hand had the biggest
increase with 38 % and 18,600 hectare, both in percent and hectare measured. The total
area of rape and turnip rape is expected to increase up to above 100,000
hectares even this year. 109 100 to be more exact, which is an increase by about 9 % or 9,100 hectares compared to
year 2009. This is the highest quotation of the total area of rape and turnip
rape since year 1995. The area of Leguminous
plants increases
Peas
increased with 42 % or 10,600 hectares and represent most of the total increase
of the Leguminous plants, which was 11,400 hectares. The total area of
leguminous plant is estimated to about 45,700 hectares year 2010. List of tables
