organic areas continued to increase in 2013 but the areas under conversion
decreased
This report
contains statistics on organic farming areas, fully converted or under
conversion, in 2013. The information covers arable land and pasture and meadows.
Information on greenhouse cultivation is excluded. The total
converted areas and the areas under conversion in 2013 have been estimated to
501,500 hectares or 16.5 % of the total utilised agricultural area in Sweden.
Compared with 2012 this is an increase with almost 5 %. The fully
converted areas are estimated to 460,300 hectares or 15 % of the total
agricultural area in Sweden, an increase by a little bit more than 8 %
compared with 2012. The fully converted areas in 2013 consisted of 359,300
hectares of arable land and 101,000 hectares of pasture and meadow. The areas
under conversion in 2013 are estimated to 41,200 hectares or 1.4 % of the
total agricultural area in Sweden. Compared with 2012 this was a decrease by
12,200 hectares or almost 23 %. List of tables
