publikationen (PDF)”. This report contains statistics on organic farming
areas, fully converted or under conversion, in 2018. The information covers
arable land and pasture and meadows. Information on greenhouse cultivation is
excluded. The total converted area and area under conversion in
2018 have been estimated to 609 100 hectares, or 20 % of the total
utilised agricultural area in Sweden. Compared with 2017, the organic area
increased with 31 900 hectares or 6 %. The fully converted area increased to 536 500
hectares in 2018. This corresponds to almost 18 % of the total
agricultural area in Sweden. The fully converted area in 2018 consisted of
416 000 hectares of arable land and 120 500 hectares of pasture and
meadows. Between 2010 and 2014 the area under conversion
decreased substantially. In 2015 the trend of decreasing areas changed into an
increase and the area under conversion continued to increase in 2016 and 2017. In
2018 the area under conversion decreased and is estimated to 72 600
hectares. Compared with 2017, this was a decrease by 8 800 hectares or 11 %. List of tables
