contains statistics on fully converted organic farming areas and areas under
conversion to organic farming in 2009. The information covers arable land and
pasture and meadows. Information on greenhouse cultivation is excluded. The total
converted areas and the areas under conversion in 2009 has been estimated to 385 200
hectare or 12.5 percent of the total agricultural area in Sweden. This is an
increase by 14.5 percent since 2008 and an increase by approximately 73 percent
since 2005. The fully
converted areas are estimated to 302 900 hectare or 9.8 percent of the
total agricultural area in Sweden, an increase with almost 23 percent compared
to 2008. The fully converted areas in 2009 consisted of 233 500 hectare of
