The number of holdings in
decreasing
The number
of holdings decreased from 75 808 in 2005 to 72 609 in 2007. The numbe of
holdings decreased in all sizeclasses except the largest one, holdings with
more than 100 hectare of arable land, where the number of holdings increased. The share of fully owned
holdings is increasing
The share
of fully owned holdings increased from 39 200 holdings in 2005 to 40 800
holdings in 2007. The share of rented or partly rented holdings fell correspondingly
between 2005 and 2007. The percentage of rented arable land fell from 40 %
in 2005 to 39% in 2007. The share of female
holders is constant
The number of female holders was 10 000 in 2007
compared to 9 900 in 2005. The share of female holders was therefore the same
14 % in 2005 and 2007. The number of limitied companies and other type of legal
persons increased during the same period.
Every fifth holder is 65
years or older
A little
more than every fifth holder in agriculture was 65 years or older in 2007. Roughly the same percentage 22 % was 45
percent or younger. The diffenence in age between women and men was small,
although the share of younger holders was somewhat higher for women than for
men. About 26 % of the women were 45 years or younger compared to
