number of holdings is decreasing
The number of agricultural holdings decreased from 67 146 in 2013 to 62
937 in 2016. Since 1990 the number of holding has decreased by 35 %. While the number of holdings decreased in all
other size classes, they increased in the size classes 2 hectares and less as
well as 100.1 hectares and more of arable land. The
share of female holders is almost constant
The
number of female holders in private firms was 9 710 in 2016, a decrease compared
with 2013. The share of female holders increased by almost 1
percentage point, leaving it just below 17 %. The number of limited companies and other types of legal persons
increased during the same period.
Every
third holder is 65 years or older
Every third agricultural holder was 65 years or older in 2016, which is
a small increase compared with 2013. Slightly more than 16 % of the
holders were 45 years or younger. The difference in age distribution between
women and men was small, although the share of younger holders was somewhat
higher for women than for men. Almost 21 % of the women were 45 years or
younger compared with 16 % of the men. List of tables
