In EnglishSummary SummaryIn 2007,
approximately 16 800, or 23 per cent, of the holdings had some kind
of other gainful activity beside the agriculture activity, but directly related
to the holding. The most common form of other gainful activities was different
forms of contract work. Of the holdings involved with other gainful activities
directly related to the holding, about 50 per cent were involved in
contract work. The most common activity beside contract work was activities
within tourism, letting, and other leisure activities. Approximately 4 000
holdings, or 24 per cent of the holdings, were involved in these types of
activities. A new
method for imputations of missing or incomplete data was used in order to
calculate the result for 2007. This decision was taken after having reviewed a
report examining other gainful activities and income of Swedish agriculture holdings
(Statistikrapport 2007:3, Other gainful activities on the agricultural
holding and income of the agricultural household). This report indicated that the number of
holdings involved with other gainful activities directly related to the
holding, was in fact greater than what has previously been estimated. A template
for the number of holdings which ran this type of activity was calculated.
Hence, in cases where the holder had neglected to leave information, the calculated
template was used to imputate data. In previous surveys, in cases where the
holder had left such information out, it was simply regarded as a negative
answer. Statistics on the number of holdings involved in other gainful
activities has most likely been underestimated in previous years. The data from
the 2007 survey are likely to be more accurate. List of tables List of terms
