number of cattle in December 2012 is 1 443 584 and has decreased by 6 143 animals since December 2011. The number of
dairy cows decreased by 0.6 %, and the number of other cows decreased by
2.0 %. The total
number of heifers, bulls and steers has increased by 0.9 % or 4 095
animals since December 2011. The number of calves, on the other hand, has
decreased by 4 431 animals during the year 2012. Since the
year 2000 the total number of cattle has decreased with 11 %. The number
of dairy cows has decreased with 19 % while the number of other cows has
increased by 16 % since December 2000. For all other categories the number
