The results
provided in this report are not directly comparable with results from previous
years on Net receipts etc. for farmers. The main reason for that is that from
1999 on a wider household concept is used.
Total
income from employment and business was on average for all 80 068 agricultural
households SEK 260 600.
For farmers
and spouses it is possible to compare income for 1999 from business and from
employment with the results for previous years. For women income from business
decreased SEK 500 and income from employment increased SEK 7 700 so that total income from
employment and business increased SEK 7 200 or 6 per cent to
SEK130 800. For men the corresponding changes were an increases with SEK
1 300 and 5 400 so that total
income from employment and business increased SEK 6 700 or 5 per cent to
SEK 154 800.
The main
part (about 2/3) of total direct taxes (including compulsory pension
contribution paid by the employees) is in all groups taxes on income from employment
and business.
The average
income before tax free positive transfers and taxes for all agricultural households was SEK 283 300 while the
income after transfers was SEK 190 400. Households were the farmer was 65
years or older hade the lowest income both before (SEK 212 400) and after
transfers (SEK 151 000). The biggest income had the households on farms
with more than 200 hectares of arable land (SEK 364 100 before tax free
transfers and taxes and SEK 241 900 after).
Up to 1998
the Swedish calculations for the Eurostat statistics IAHS (Income of
agricultural households sector) was based on the Income distribution survey. Preliminary
results from the new Swedish calculations based on the connection between the
Farm Register (LBR) and the Income and Wealth register (IoF) shows that the
number of agricultural households ("narrow definition") 1999 was 18 501 or
23 per cent of all households in the Farm Register and 0.4 of all households.
Their Current receipts was SEK 358 100. Of that sum 67 per cent came from Independent activity (including 9
per cent from Net operating surplus from imputed rental value of owner
dwellings), 19 per cent from Independent activity, 11 per cent from Social
benefits received and 3 per cent from Property income received.
