Summary Summary
The results
provided in this report are not directly comparable with results from 1998 and
earlier on Net receipts etc. for farmers. The main reason for that is that from
1999 a wider household concept is used. Between 1999 and 2000 a change in the
way of collecting the information to the Farm Register (LBR) has caused a
considerable decrease in the number of older farmers. That has led to a higher
increase between the years of about two percent for the averages for the whole
population than it would have been if the old method for collection had been
used. For a few variables like "Pensions", "Surplus from capital" and "Net income
from capital" it has led to lower results. The impact is supposed to vary
between different subgroups. The average
household income before tax-free positive transfers and taxes was for all
agricultural households SEK 313 900 in year 2002, an increase with SEK
7 700 or 3 per cent. As the tax-free positive transfers increased while
the negative transfers decreased the household income after transfers increased
more - SEK 9 400 or 4 per cent - than income before transfers and amounted to
SEK 225 400. Households in which the farmer was 65 years or older had the
lowest average income both before transfers (SEK 229 100) and after transfers
(SEK 168 300). For farmers
and spouses the income from business and employment has been calculated for
women and men since 1996. For women income from business in year 2002 increased
SEK 800 and income from employment increased SEK 6 400 so that total
income from employment and business increased SEK 7 200 or 5 per cent to
SEK152 600. For men the corresponding changes were increases with SEK
2 400 and 5 800 so that total income from employment and business increased
SEK 8 200 or 5 per cent to SEK 180 800. The results
from the calculations for the Eurostat statistics Income of the Agricultural
Households Sector (IAHS) are not finished yet due to difficulties to calculate
the net operating surplus from imputed rental value of owner dwellings. List of tables
