The value of agricultural output is expected to decrease by 1.7 % in 2006 compared with 2005. Crop output decreases by 4.4 % while animal output is about the same as last year. The decrease in crop output is mainly from cereals.
The factor income of agriculture is expected to have increased by 1.6 %. The factor income is calculated as the sum of production value and direct subsidies, which have decreased during 2006, minus the costs of intermediate consumption and fixed capital consumption. The costs of capital consumption is expected to decrease, while the costs for fixed capital consumption is expected to increase somewhat.
The total harvest of cereals decreased with 13 % compared with 2005 according to preliminary figures. The decrease can be attributed both to a smaller area of cultivation and a bad harvest. The yield per hectare is expected to be much lower than normal for all cereals. The total harvest of cereals has not been as bad since 1992. The prices of cereals is expected to increase with almost 20 % in 2006.
The harvest of oil seeds is expected to be higher than the average over the last five years and it will also be higher than it was in 2005. Since 2003 the area of oil seeds have increased and in 2006 they were more than 50 % higher than they were in 2003. The price of oil seeds is expected to increase somewhat in 2006.
The price of potatoes is expected to increase during 2006 and the volume is expected to decrease.
The slaughtering of pigs decreased during 2006 and the slaughtering of cattle and poultry increased somewhat in 2006. The prices of pigs and cattle are expected to increase somewhat in 2006 and the prices of poultry are expected to be about the same as in 2005.
The quantity of milk delivered to wholesalers are expected to have decreased somewhat in 2006 compared to 2005. The price of milk is expected to have decreased in 2006.
