in the agricultural sector entrepreneurial income The output
value of the agricultural industry in basic prices decreased by 1.8 billion SEK
or 3 % between 2017 and 2018. In total, the value of the output of the
agricultural industry amounted 60.4 billion SEK in 2018. The value
of crop output in basic prices decreased by 1.2 billion SEK or 4 % in 2018
compared with 2017, amounting to 26.5 billion. The main reason for this
was the drought of summer 2018 reducing the harvest, although it also lead to
an increase in prices. The value
of animal output in basic prices decreased by 0.4 billion SEK or 1 % in
2018. A large proportion of the decrease is due to a shrinking milk production
value, a reduction somewhat short of 0.5 billion SEK. Meanwhile, the value of
egg production rose by slightly more than 0.1 billion, which was the biggest
increase in animal production. In total, the value of animal production was
27 billion SEK, out of which 10 billion came from milk production. The
second and third contributors in terms of value were the slaughter of cattle
and pigs, amounting to 6.3 and 4.5 billion SEK respectively. They both saw
relatively slight differences in value compared to the year 2017. The value
of total intermediate consumption increased by 5 % or 2.3 billion SEK in 2018
and amounted to 45.9 billion SEK. Veterinary costs and building maintenance
expenditures decreased with 3 and 13 % respectively, but besides them all
intermediate cost items showed an increase. The main increase was for animal
feedingstuffs which showed an increase of 2.0 billion SEK or 15 %. As a
consequence of the simultaneous decrease in production value and increase in
costs, factor income dropped by 23 % or 3.9 billion SEK. The
entrepreneurial income decreased by 4 billion SEK or 45 % in 2018 compared with
