In EnglishSummary SummaryIn Sweden
price indices in the agricultural and food sectors have been calculated during
the last 30 years. Until the end of the 1980's these price indices were an
important part of the basic data used in the negotiations during the price
regulation periods. The indices have also been included in a system which aimed
at being used when analysing the price trends in the different market stages
from producers to consumers for price regulated food products. This system also
aimed at showing the price trends for the means of production used in the
agriculture. During the
first part of 1990's the need for using all these indices decreased, mainly
because of the drop of the price regulation system during 1990. After the
Swedish accession to the EU in 1995 two
of the indices, Output Price Index and Input Price Index, are a part of the
common system of price indices for the EU Member States. Since the
year 2000 figures of the following price index series are calculated every
month by Swedish Board of Agriculture and published in the monthly publication
Price indices and prices in the food sector, which can be found on the webb
site www.sjv.se
under the heading Statistik och fakta. Base year for all series is 2000. Input
Price Index
(Produktionsmedelsprisindex or PM-index) shows the price trends for the means
of production that are used in the agricultural sector. Output
Price Index
(Avräkningsprisindex or A-index) shows the price trends for producer prices of
agricultural products. As this is a price index, the effect on incomes of
direct payments or premiums to farmers is not included. Price
index for the Food Industry, food from price regulated agricultural products (Producentprisindex för
livsmedelsindustrin för jordbruksreglerade livsmedel or PPI-J) shows the price
trends for the food when leaving the food industry. Consumer Price Index for food from price
regulated agricultural products (Konsumentprisindex för jordbruksreglerade livsmedel or KPI-J) shows
the price trends for the consumers when buying food. This report includes price index figures for the period 1966/67 - 2003 for these index series and also some price index figures for some other EU Member States. During this period the year 1966/67, 1980, 1990, 1995 and 2000 has been base year. List of tables 1a. Input Price Index 1967-1974 (1966/67=100) 1b. Input Price Index 1975-1980 (1966/67=100) 2.
