Price Indices and Prices in the Food Sector – Annual and Monthly Statistics – 2016:02

Agricultural Input Price Index decreased by -1.1 % between February 2015 and February 2016. Prices for Goods and services currently consumed in agriculture decreased by -1.9 % while prices for Goods and services contributing to agricultural investments increased by 1.5 %. The highest increase was found in Plant protection products and pesticides (+7.2 %) followed by Maintenance of materials (+2.0 %). Energy and lubricants (-9.3 %) followed by Fertilisers and soil improvers (-5.5 %) decreased the most.

Agricultural Output Price Index increased by 2.8 % between February 2015 and February 2016. Index for Crop output increased by 0.2 %. The biggest increase among the crops was found in prices for Potatoes (+38.1 %) and Fruits and horticultural products (+12.2 %). Decreases were only found in prices for Cereals (-15.4 %) and Forage plants (‑0.5 %). Animal output increased by 4.6 %. This is explained by higher prices for Animals during the period. Prices for Cattle excluding calves, for example, increased by 13.9 %.

“Price Index for the Food Industry, food from price regulated agricultural products” increased by 2.6 % between February 2015 and February 2016. Crop products and Animal products increased by 4.6 and 1.6 % respectively.

“Consumer Price Index, food from price regulated agricultural products” increased by 1.1 % between February 2015 and February 2016. Total Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.4 % during the same period.
