Price Indices and Prices in the Food Sector – Annual and Monthly Statistics – 2016:05

Agricultural Input Price Index decreased by -2.5 % between May 2015 and May 2016. Prices for Goods and services currently consumed in agriculture decreased by -3.5 % while prices for Goods and services contributing to agricultural investments increased by 1.4 %. Fertilisers and soil improvers (-14.3 %) contributed the most to the total decrease in the input price index. Energy and lubricants (‑6.4 %) and Animal feedingstuffs (-4.9 %) are other examples where prices decreased during the period. The highest increase was found in Materials (+1.8 %).

Agricultural Output Price Index decreased by -0.9 % between May 2015 and May 2016. Index for Crop output decreased by ‑1.4 %. The highest decrease was found in prices for Cereals (-13.3 %) and the biggest increase among the crops was found in prices for Potatoes (+38.1 %). Animal output decreased by ‑0.5 %. This is mainly explained by lower prices for Milk during the period.

“Price Index for the Food Industry, food from price regulated agricultural products” increased by 2.4 % between May 2015 and May 2016. Crop products and Animal products increased by 4.7 and 1.2 % respectively.

“Consumer Price Index, food from price regulated agricultural products” increased by 0.3 % between May 2015 and May 2016. Total Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.6 % during the same period.
