Summary
Low carrot production
The total
production of carrots in 2010 was 83 000 tonnes. It is 32 % less than
in 2009. Both the yield per hectare and the area sown were lower in 2010 compared
with 2009. Among the other vegetables grown in the open field, cauliflower and
iceberg lettuce also had lower harvests in 2010 compared with 2009. The
cucumber and onion harvests of 2010 were at the same level as in 2009. The
production of white cabbage increased by 16 % in 2010 compared with
2009. Production of greenhouse
grown vegetables
The total
tomato production was almost 13 800 tonnes in 2010, which is at the same
level as in 2009. The production of greenhouse grown cucumber is estimated to
27 000 tonnes, which is an increase by 19 % compared with 2009. The
production of potted lettuce is estimated to 14.6 million plants, which is a decrease
by 13 % compared with 2009. The production of aromatic plants is estimated
to 32.4 million plants, which is an increase by 18 % compared with 2009. Apple and strawberry
production
The total
production of apples in 2010 is estimated to 23 500 tonnes. It is an
increase by 12 % compared with 2009. The total strawberry production is
estimated to 11 500 tonnes in 2010 which is a decrease by 2 %
