report, we present utilized areas and production for some of the most important
edible crops in the Swedish horticultural production. The statistics are based
on the production by commercial producers with a cultivated area of at least
0.25 hectares open ground or 200 square meters of greenhouse. The
horticultural production did not exhibit any major changes in 2013 compared to
the preceding year. The only differences in area use were an increase by 12
percent in the greenhouse area utilized for the cultivation of aromatic plants
and a decrease in the greenhouse area used for potted lettuce, which went down
by 13 percent. Both these crops did however exhibit an increase in the
amount of produced pots by 9 and 7 percent respectively. Among the
open ground crops no changes in utilized areas were seen, while the production
of cucumber and leek increased by 33 and 39 percent respectively and the
harvest of iceberg lettuce decreased by 22 percent. Cucumber
