leek production decreased by 40 % between the years 2015 and 2016, from
4 900 to 2 900 tonnes. During the same period the harvest of broccoli
and cauliflower decreased by 29 and 11 %, respectively. In contrast, the
greenhouse production of cucumber and potted lettuce increased by 16 %,
while the harvested number of greenhouse-grown aromatic plants increased by
8 %. In consequence, the harvests of greenhouse-grown cucumber and
aromatic plants were the largest to date. With
respect to the harvested amount, carrot has long since been the most important
Swedish edible horticultural crop, exhibiting a harvest of just below
112 000 tonnes in 2016. When instead looking at cultivated area,
strawberries constitute the largest crop with a planted area of 2 301
hectares in 2016, followed in descending order by carrots, apples and onions. List of tables
