report provides preliminary results for the yield per hectare and total
production of cereals, dried pulses and oilseeds for the year 2015. The results are presented for counties, production areas
and for all of Sweden. Cereals, dried pulses and
oilseed crops
Total
production of cereal crops for the whole country is estimated at 6 170 200 tonnes. This is 7% more than in 2014
and 25% more than the average for the last five years. The total
production of winter wheat is estimated at 2 986 400 tonnes, the highest ever. Total
production of peas is estimated at 83 300
tonnes, which is 79% more than in the previous year. The total production of
field beans (Vicia faba L.) is
estimated at 100 000 tonnes. The 2015
harvest of rape and turnip rape is estimated at 359 600 tonnes. This is
11% more than in 2014 and 19% more than the average for the last five years.
The total production of oil flax is estimated at 13 900 tonnes. Since
1998, statistics on crop yields for cereals, dried pulses and oilseed crops
have been based on an interview survey. Since 2005, the farmers can also use
the Internet for data delivery to Statistics Sweden. The sample
of the survey of 2015 consists of 4 381 survey units. The selected farms
are a random sample from throughout the country. The survey was carried out in
October and November. Information was requested for total farm production in
tonnes of these crops and their average moisture content. Yields per hectare at
farm level are calculated by dividing the total production by the crop areas of
the farm. The total production is calculated from data on yield per hectare;
area statistics are calculated from preliminary data on usage of arable land in
2015. These area data are based on figures from the administrative database for
agricultural subsidies, IACS. Crop areas cut as green fodder have been
excluded. The statistics on yields correspond with yield per hectare of sown
areas minus areas cut as green fodder. Yields per hectare on harvested areas
are not published. Unharvested areas and areas cut as green fodder are
presented in separate tables. The tables
show the number of observations, yield per hectare in kg, total production in
metric tonnes and crop areas. Standard errors are given for the yield per
hectare, total production, unharvested areas and areas harvested as green
fodder. List of tables
