This report provides forecasts for the year 2003 for the yields per hectare and total production of cereals and oilseed crops. The results are presented for all of Sweden.
The forecast for the yields per hectare of cereal crops are expected to be a little bit lower in general than the yield for 2002. Compared to the average yields for the last five years the yield per hectare for the majority of cereal crops is expected to be a few per cent higher.
For oilseed crops the forecasts of the yields per hectares are lower than the yield per hectare last year, except for spring turnip rape. Compared with the average yield for the last five years the yields of spring and winter rape are expected to be lower, while the yields of spring and winter turnip rape are expected to be higher.
The forecast of the total production of cereals is 5,5 million tons for 2003, which is just as high as 2002. In general winter cereals are expected to have a higher production while the spring cereals are expected to have a lower production than for 2002. This is mainly due to higher areas of winter cereals and lower areas of spring cereals. Compared to the average production for the last five years the production 2003 is expected to be almost the same.
The total production of oilseeds is expected to be almost 20 % lower than 2002 due to lower areas. Compared to the average production for the last five years the production for 2003 is expected to be almost the same.
