Summary
Crop
production forecast for cereals and oilseed crops in 2011 If you would like to download the publication in PDF format, then please

provides forecasts concerning the yields per hectare and total production of
cereals and oilseed crops for the year 2011. The results are presented in a national
level. Yield
The yields
per hectare for every crop under cereals are estimated to increase with 11–23 %
in 2011 year’s harvest compared to the year 2010. Highest increase is forecasted
for winter barley. Even compared to the level of average yields per hectare
during the five last years every crop is estimated to increase. Compared
with 2010 the yields per hectare of the oilseed crops are estimated to increase
for all crops except winter turnip rape. The same pattern is found compared to
the average yields per hectare of the previous five years. Total production
The
forecast shows that the total production of cereals is estimated to be 5.1
million tons for 2011, which is about 19 % higher than 2010 and 7 % higher
than the average for the years 2006–2010. Higher yields per hectare in combination
with a total increase in areas cultivated with cereals are the reasons behind
the higher total production for 2011. The area of
oilseed crops in Sweden has for a couple of years steadily increased until now.
The area cultivated with oilseeds 2011 decreased with 9 % compared with the
harvested area in 2010. Despite higher yields per hectare this year’s harvest
of oilseeds is therefore estimated to be in level with that of last year (0.28
million tons). Compared with the average total production in oilseeds for the
last five years the estimation of 2011 year’s production is about 10 % higher. List of tablesList of terms
