for cereals and oilseed crops in 2016
This report
provides forecasts concerning yields per hectare and total production of
cereals and oilseed crops for the year 2016. The results are presented at the national
level. Yield per hectare
Yields per
hectare are estimated to decrease for all the cereal crops compared with 2015. One
of the crops with the highest expected decrease in yield compared with 2015 is Oats
(-13 %). Yields from most of the crops are expected to increase compared
with the average yields per hectare for the last five years. Yields per
hectare for oilseed crops are estimated to mostly decrease compared with 2015.
Yield of Winter rape is expected to decrease by 20 % compared with the
previous year. Compared with the average yield per hectare for the last five
years, the yield of Winter rape is estimated to decrease by 11 %. Total production
The
forecast shows that the total production of cereals is estimated to be 5.6
million tonnes in 2016, which is 10 % less than 2015 and 4 % more than
the average for the years 2011–2015. The main
reason for the lower total production of cereals estimated for 2016 is that
yields per hectare are estimated to decrease for all the cereals compared with
2015. This year’s
harvest of oilseeds is estimated to be 0.28 million tonnes, which is about 22 %
less than in 2015. Compared with the average total production of oilseeds for
the last five years, the estimation of the production in 2016 is 12 % lower.
Yield per hectare is estimated to decrease (-20 %) for Winter rape. The area cultivated with
Winter rape is 90 % of the total area for oilseeds. List of terms
