Increased slaughterings in February 2016 compared with February 2015
The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in February 2016 was 238 700 tons. Figure A shows the quantity of milk delivered to dairies month by month from 2013 to February 2016. The production of drinking milk was in February 66 000 tons, which is 2 100 ton more than in February 2015. Cream production was in February 8 900 tons. It is 100 tons more than February 2015.
In February 2016 slaughtered nearly 32 600 adult cattle and over 1 300 calves. The total weight of the slaughtered cattle was more than 10 700 tons, which is more than the same month in the last three years. This can be seen in Figure B. The slaughter of pigs is also more than the same month in the last three years. In February 2016 there were slaughtered 212 400 pigs, representing a weight of 19 800 tons. Figures B and C show how the slaughter of cattle and pigs has developed since the year 2013. The total slaughter of sheep, rams and lambs in February 2016 was 270 tons, a small increase compared with February 2015. Figures D show how the total slaughter of sheep, rams and lambs has developed since the year 2013.
The poultry slaughtered in February 2016, which include chickens, hens and turkeys, weighed 12 100 tons. 96 % of the weight was from chickens. Figure E shows the total slaughter of poultry on a monthly basis for 2015 and 2016.
Data about eggs delivered to wholesalers from The Swedish Egg and Poultry Associations members in January and February 2016 are not available at the time for this publications, which means than Table 5 is not updated. The data will be published in the database when it is available.
