The slaughter of cattle and pigs decreased in September

The quantity of milk delivered to dairies in September was 215 500 tonnes, a decrease by 2 % compared with the statistics for September 2017. The dairies produced 61 200 tonnes of drinking milk and 18 600 tonnes of acidified milk. Furthermore, 8 000 tonnes of cream, 6 400 tonnes of cheese, 1 100 tonnes of butter and 7 100 tonnes of milk powder were produced.

36 800 cattle were slaughtered in September. The total slaughter weight, 11 700 tonnes, was a decrease by 3 % compared with September 2017.

There were 204 100 pigs slaughtered in September. The total slaughter weight of pigs was 19 000 tonnes, which is a decrease by 1 % compared with the figures of September 2017.

33 100 sheep and lambs were slaughtered in September, with a total slaughter weight of 650 tonnes. The total slaughter weight of sheep and lambs were at the level of the statistic for September last year.

This month’s figures for slaughtered poultry and egg delivery were not available at the time of publication. The statistics will be published in the Statistical database of the Board of Agriculture when available.
