This report provides forecasts for 2007 concerning the yields per hectare and total production of cereals and oilseed crops. The results are presented for all of Sweden.
According to the forecast the yields per hectare of cereals are expected to be between 15 % higher and 35 % higher than the yields for 2006. Compared to the average yields for the last five years the yield per hectare for the majority of cereals is expected to be up to 10-15 % higher.
For oilseed crops the forecasts of the yields per hectare are higher than the yield per hectare last year for winter rape but higher for other oilseed crops. Compared with the average yield for the last five years the yields are expected to be higher for both rape and for turnip rape.
The forecast of the total production of cereals is 5,2 million tons for 2007, which is 26 % higher than for 2006 and 2 % higher than the average for the years 2002-2006. The reason for this higher production is that the yield per hectare is higher than usual. The cultivated areas are approximately the same as 2006 but lower than usual.
The total production of oilseeds is expected to be almost 15 % higher than 2006. Compared to the average production for the last five years the production for 2007 is expected to be 35 % higher. During the last four years there has been a significantly increase in areas with oilseeds.
